I had an air handler case sweating badly in a hot attic last year.
Air handler sweating in attic.
The next question is what type of ductwork do you have.
My question is regarding the water sweating from the bottom of the air handler.
The insulation inside the air handler should also be enough to prevent major heat loss in winter months.
Not as bad but still sweating i don t go into the attic on a regular basis to see if this is a normal occurrence but i don t imagine that it should be wet.
The next day it was back.
I recommended better top mount spot ventilation hip roof.
As the air flow is reduced the temperature of the air goes below the dew point and causes sweating.
Hot humid air mixes with the cold internal air of the air handler by the cold metal of the unit causing condensation.
Due to the chocked filters or blocked duct or maybe for whatever reason if the air flow is restricted then there will be chance of sweating.
With attic insulation it is easier for the hvac system to distribute cool air throughout the home evenly.
If we take into consideration that on a hot summer day the attic where your ducts live can be as warm as 150 degrees that 90 100 difference in the temperature is what can cause the condensation to begin.
This is particularly helpful as it will keep upstairs bedrooms cooler at night.
Without a handler in the attic circulating air to higher levels can be more challenging.
I dried it also thinking the full pan below it was the cause.
Most come with 1 2 in.
Any time you have cold and hot air meeting here comes the rain.
If an air handler is in a garage attic crawlspace or closet it might experience less air flow and humid air.
This is a common occurrence in florida garages.
Didn t hear back on it.
