My question is regarding the water sweating from the bottom of the air handler.
Air handler in attic sweating.
The air handler was sweating very bad.
However too much condensation and moisture can lead to mold termites and other damage.
I proposed a dehumidifier.
We ended up leaving it there because the air handler and everything else in the attic was bone dry.
This is very similar to what happens when air ducts are sweating.
And the builder agreed to let me put one in on a trial basis.
Most come with 1 2 in.
The insulation inside the air handler should also be enough to prevent major heat loss in winter months.
You should always try to add as much as circulation as possible and ensure your unit is performing efficiently.
Without proper insulation cool air could be lost and excess moisture could develop.
That is the proper way to prevent the air handler from sweating.
Not as bad but still sweating i don t go into the attic on a regular basis to see if this is a normal occurrence but i don t imagine that it should be wet.
Minor air handler sweating is okay and normal.
Due to the chocked filters or blocked duct or maybe for whatever reason if the air flow is restricted then there will be chance of sweating.
Attic requires proper insulation if you are going to install an ac handler in the attic it is important that you have your attic properly insulated.
I was working with a very knowledgable builder.
As the air flow is reduced the temperature of the air goes below the dew point and causes sweating.
In a properly functioning air conditioning system the air leaving the top of the unit is typically around 20 degrees colder than whatever the thermostat is set at.
The next day it was back.
Fiberglass insulation inside the cabinet.
