Operation bootstrap was a three to one payback. I think they do still have a program that allows you to seperate with a promise to commit so many years after you complete school. For whatever time it took me to complete my degree i had to pay back three times that to the air force. I decided that since i was already committed to the air force i may as well apply for a commission and go as far as i could in those remaining years.

The military pays for your school and you commit to a set term. The air force did away with the boot strap program back in 2001 or 2002. Bootstrap is for someone who s enlisted. Bootstrap works the other way around.
