Standing at the front of the awning and facing the rear you need to rotate the front awning leg counter clockwise.
Adjust travel triler awning.
Others might require you to use a hand crank extended device.
Dear jim well it depends on the size and make of your slide topper.
Rv awning canvas and arm alignment how to adjust and fix in under five minutes.
I noticed as we packed up at the end our first trip this weekend that the awning wasn t seating against the rv properly.
It looks like the fabric is off center on the roller tube as the gap between arm fabric is about 3x as wide on the rear end of the tube.
See pic below nothing looks bent as far as i can tell.
The support arms are the sections of aluminum in most cases that lead from the front corners of the roller tube back to the trailer and hold the awning up when it s open.
You may notice the awning wind up crooked on the roller tube.
Lower the leading edge or roller tube as close to the ground as possible.
Push the aluminum pole in its extended length up to the rv wall and down to the lip of the awning under the awning itself.
Position so the pole pushes the awning out adding tension to the fabric.
That s also the direction that the arms are roughly evenly leaning.
Many if not most slide toppers have only one spring which is probably the side that is tight.
Look for the screws that hold the two sections of each of the support arms together.
Eventually you should get it to rotate all the way around.
Since this is the side with the ratchet catch the awning might try to roll up on you some just tell your helper to hold it tighter.
Some have electronic motors that will allow you to adjust the awning automatically with the push of a button.
Place the step stool near the lip of the awning.
It s best to check your rv awning manual to determine the number of turns you ll need winding up your spring.
The awning over my slideout is sagging on one end but the other end is tight as both ends should be.
Special aluminum poles often accompany the rv awning for this use.
In this event just place the crank into the socket and begin to spin it until the awning is the right size.
This is usually just caused with age and normal stretching due to the wind and rain.
