Add Receptacle To Light Fixture

Here a new receptacle is added to an existing light fixture circuit creating a new switched outlet.

Rather than open up and rewire the wall because if i m being honest i might will almost definitely rearrange the room sometime and not want sconces there i decided to covert the hard wired lights into plug ins. The connections are made at the light fixture by removing the black and white wires from the light. Note when you add the receptacle cable that will be three cables. And i ve got a step by step tutorial for you too.

And at 50 each i thought they were a steal but we did not have wiring in the spots where i wanted to hang them. Hook up the outlet as you normally would. Do you have two cables for a total of 2 blacks and two whites. Pull the fixture away from the wall or ceiling and disconnect it from the existing wall ceiling wiring by undoing the wire nuts connecting the wires.

The source for this circuit it at the light switch. Remove the shade or cover for the light then undo the nut that holds the fixture in place. Lighting fixtures vary but these general steps always apply. If so here is your basic diagram.
